Seeing what you can’t see.

Many workplace hazards are silent. No smell, no pain today, and the effects come years later. I help companies see them and build safety that works every day, not just in a binder.

Purpose · Safety Instinct

Behind every safety rule is someone who got hurt. A rule is a tool. The goal is getting home healthy.

You buckle up before you drive. You lock the door at night. Nobody makes you. Yet at work, where you spend a third of your day, safety suddenly means duties and a form to sign.

People don’t ignore safety. They ignore hazards they can’t feel: fumes that don’t hurt today, a posture that will hurt in ten years, stress they got used to. Our instinct works well. It just needs to know what to protect us from.

That’s why I look at work as a whole: body, mind, environment and organisation. And I don’t disappear after the audit. Safety is a process: you plan, do, check and improve, again and again.

Five principles I work by

  1. Safety is a need, not a duty.We look after it at home and on the road. We can at work too.
  2. Instinct needs knowledge. You can’t protect yourself from what you can’t see.
  3. Behind every rule is someone who got hurt.A rule is a tool, not the goal.
  4. Ask and expect. From yourself, your colleagues, your boss. It’s care, not trouble.
  5. A company that cares for its people cares for itself.Fewer absences, lower turnover, better work.
Benefits

Good safety works both ways

Employees and employers see safety from different sides. The sums come out much the same.

For employees

Your health today and in 20 years.

You gain

  • You know what to protect yourself from, including what you can’t feel.
  • A workstation that doesn’t hurt your back, eyes or head.
  • Clear rules and the right to say “stop” when work endangers your health (Art. 210 of the Polish Labour Code).
  • Training you actually learn from, not just a signature.

Without it you risk

  • An injury or occupational disease that stays for years.
  • Lower income while on sick leave, and a hard time at home.
  • Fatigue and stress that follow you home.

For employers

Peace of mind, money and reputation.

You gain

  • Fewer absences and lower turnover: people think about work, not about getting hurt.
  • A lower accident insurance rate with ZUS (for companies with 10+ insured people).
  • Calm inspections by the labour inspectorate, sanitary inspection and fire service.
  • People report near misses before they turn into accidents.

Without it you risk

  • The cost of an empty chair: cover, overtime, delayed orders.
  • Orders and fines after an inspection, compensation after an accident.
  • Criminal liability of people who manage work, up to 3 years in prison (Art. 220 of the Polish Criminal Code).

ISSA study (2011, 300 companies in 15 countries): every euro spent on accident prevention returns 2.2 euros on average.

Services

How I can help

You can hand over your whole health and safety function or one specific issue. Expand an item to see what it covers.

Ongoing support

An external health & safety service (Art. 237¹¹ of the Labour Code). One contact person, deadlines under control.

Ad hoc help

An inspection next week, an accident yesterday, a new hire tomorrow. Fast help with one issue.

Project

An implementation, an audit or a full set of documents. Agreed scope, deadline and result.

Implementation

ISO 45001

A safety management system from scratch, or a clean-up after years of neglect.

  • baseline review and list of priorities
  • clear responsibilities: who is accountable for what
  • procedures people understand and follow
  • support with ISO 45001 implementation and audits

Documentation

Art. 226 LC

Documents that describe your company, not a template from the internet.

  • occupational risk assessment for each role
  • safe work and machine operating instructions
  • registers: harmful and carcinogenic agents, accidents, occupational diseases
  • training programmes and internal policies

Training

Art. 237³ LC

Short, practical, about what actually happens at your workstations.

  • induction training online or on site
  • help for managers with on-the-job instruction
  • periodic training for all groups
  • fire safety and first aid, also in English

External inspections

PIP · Sanepid · PSP

Getting ready for an inspection, and support when the inspector is already on site.

  • review of documents and working conditions beforehand
  • support during the inspection
  • responses to findings and orders
  • a corrective action plan with deadlines

Accidents at work

14 days

A calm, thorough accident investigation.

  • taking part in the accident investigation team
  • the report within the statutory 14 days
  • root cause analysis so it doesn’t happen again
  • a near-miss register

Workplace review and audit

report + priorities

A fresh outside look at what everyone has got used to.

  • on-site inspection of working conditions
  • a report with photos and urgency ratings
  • internal audit of the safety system
  • follow-up on whether recommendations were done

Ergonomics and wellbeing

body · mind

A comfortable workstation isn’t a 3,000-zloty chair. Good work is about the mind too, not just the back.

  • assessment of computer workstations, including remote and hybrid work
  • mobile work, driving, standing work and lifting
  • workload and stress: simple steps that cost nothing
  • short workshops for teams and managers

Emergencies

evacuation · fire

A plan for the day something goes wrong.

  • evacuation instructions and plans, evacuation drills
  • procedures for chemical spills and biological exposure
  • first aid: kits, designated people, training
  • fire protection in cooperation with the building manager

How we start

  1. A conversation

Half an hour by phone or online. You tell me what worries you and what you need.

  2. A review

I check on site or remotely what already works and what’s missing.

  3. Plan and action

You get the scope, deadlines and a quote. Then we get to work, step by step, and check the results regularly.

Experience

Nearly 20 years in five different worlds of work

Safety in a laboratory looks different from safety in a shop, and a corporate office is nothing like a sales rep’s car. I have worked in all of them, so I know what carries over from one to another.

Specialism

Medical laboratories and pathology

For years and still today. Formaldehyde and xylene, biological material, very sharp tools, carcinogens and records kept for 40 years. From specialist to head of the H&S department in a nationwide laboratory network.

Office and wellbeing

International corporation

Office and hybrid work where health and safety is mostly about wellbeing, ergonomics and mental health. I know how large organisations do it and what is worth bringing to a smaller company.

Healthcare

Oncology hospital

Health, safety and fire protection in a hospital: drugs and reagents, shift work, evacuating patients who can’t leave on their own.

Retail

Fashion and jewellery store chain

Many locations at once: shops in malls, warehouses and deliveries, fire safety with the building manager, training for changing teams.

Field work

Sales representatives

When the workplace is a car: road risk, fatigue, lone working and the ergonomics of mobile work.

EducationPostgraduate studies in Occupational Safety and Health Management (Cracow University of Technology); MSc Eng. (University of Agriculture in Kraków).

After workI keep bees. A hive is the best safety lesson I know: every bee has its role, and safety is everyone’s job, not just the “safety bee’s”.

Blog

Safety Instinct

Every two weeks I write simply about what you can’t see at work. Posts appear in Polish and English, on LinkedIn first.
